PH firms urged to reassess cybersecurity strategies

Crowdsourced cybersecurity testing platform Secuna urges companies and government offices to reassess their strategies as cyberattacks are increasing amid a tech talent shortage.
According to Secuna CEO and co-founder AJ Dumanhug, only a few companies prioritize cybersecurity due to regulations and certifications. He added that some firms even lack an in-house cybersecurity workforce to strengthen their security posture.
Add in the current skills shortage, the cybersecurity expert said that the lack of tech talents could lead to oversights in processes, threats in the network, and lesser time to conduct proper risk assessment and management.
“Cybersecurity is a responsibility, not just a list of regulations and compliances to check off in order to claim that they are secure and compliant,” Dumanhug noted.
With the rising threat of cybercrime activities, he said it is most important that organizations reconsider and create new strategies to recognize vulnerabilities and warning signs to stay one step ahead of cybercriminals.
