PH implements travel ban in nine countries

A temporary travel ban on travelers coming from nine red-listed countries will be implemented starting September 12 until September 18, according to an announcement released by the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
These nine countries are Azerbaijan, Guadeloupe, Guam, Israel, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Saint Lucia, and Switzerland.
According to BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, the new directive was made by the Malacañang under the recommendation of the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases).
However, passengers that are arriving before the implementation of the travel ban or Filipinos who are in transit under repatriation programs or ‘bayanihan’ flights may be allowed to enter, subject to existing policies of the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ).
BI Port Operations Division chief Carlos Capulong added those who had a layover at any of the nine red-listed countries are not covered by the travel ban.
