PH now ‘low-risk’ for COVID-19

The Philippines has been downgraded to low-risk for new COVID-19 infections, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that the “decline in cases is seen at the national level and in most regions.”
However, although the risk classification has been lowered, Vergeire stated that the regions of Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Zamboanga Peninsula, Cordillera, and Ilocos are still under moderate risk. No area in the country is considered high-risk.
The DOH also flagged several provinces with high ICU hospitalization rates as of October 23 including Cagayan Valley at 88%, the Zamboanga Peninsula at 71%, and Bicol Region at 71%.
