PH online hiring activity grew by 17% in August
Online recruitment in the Philippines increased by 17% to 127 in August 2021 compared to 109 during the same month last year, according to the latest data from the Monster Employment Index (MEI).
The hiring demand in August also exceeded 2020’s level in 10 of the 12 industries monitored by the Index.
This was led by the logistics/courier/freight/transportation sector with a 39% increase. Followed by the IT, telecom/ISP sector with 35% and media/public relations and entertainment with 29%
In contrast, the hospitality industry saw a 19% decrease in demand followed by a 2% slump in the consumer goods/FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) industry.
Further, annual online demand for professionals saw improvement in nine of 10 functional areas led by marketing & communications with a 43% jump. Software, hardware, telecom sectors rose 38%, and finance & accounts increased 38%.
The hospitality and travel sector was the only one to record a decrease over the year with three per cent.
