PH ranks 8th in COVID-19 cases globally

The Philippines was listed in eighth place among the countries with the most COVID-19 cases in the past 28 days, according to the global tracker of the Johns Hopkins University and Medicine (JHU).
Based on a post from JHU Dashboard, the country has recorded 527,114 COVID-19 cases in the last 29 days and an overall total of 2,366,749 cases as of September 19.
In response to the current data, the Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that the National Capital Region (NCR) is still in the high-risk classification for COVID-19 infections. However, the surge of cases is going down slowly.
Vergeire added that the Average Daily Attack Rate (ADAR) in the capital city jumped from 33.71% to 39.56% per 100,000 population, but the new cases decreased by 780 cases compared to the previous seven days. The two-week growth rate was also recorded to be 17% lower.
The undersecretary concluded that recent data also showed 11 other regions in the Philippines at high-risk for COVID-19 cases.
