PH senator asks incoming economic team to resolve WFH dilemma

Philippine Senator Risa Hontiveros is urging the Philippine government’s incoming economic team to resolve the work-from-home (WFH) “impasse” between the government and the Information Technology-Business Process Management (IT-BPM) industry.
In a statement, Hontiveros said that they should “already find a common ground” with the IT-BPM sector before assuming office to help remove “the anxiety of their investors and international clients.”
The opposition senator pointed out that the sector was the “only consistent generator of jobs” during the pandemic.
She added that allowing workers to continue working from home lessens their expenses and cuts down the stress of commuting — especially in Metro Manila.
“The ball is now in the next administration’s court…It’s high time we start working under a ‘better normal,’ and not just a ‘new normal,” Hontiveros concluded.
