Philippines IT hub secures $8.5Mn investment, creating 500 jobs

LAS PIÑAS, PHILIPPINES — One Townsquare Place in Las Piñas City, Philippines, has secured a PHP500 million (US$8.5 million) investment from an information technology and business process management (IT-BPM) company, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) announced.
This development is expected to generate over 500 jobs for Filipinos and host various IT-BPM companies, strengthening Las Piñas City’s position as an emerging hub for business innovation.
“The approval of this new ecozone will boost Las Piñas City’s growth and employment in the National Capital Region,” PEZA said in a statement.
₱1Bn facility fully developed since 2017
The construction of One Townsquare Place was completed in 2017 at a cost of PHP1 billion (US$17 million). The facility spans a 3,729-square-meter parcel of land with a gross floor area of 28,214.88 square meters.
Now fully operational, it is poised to attract IT-BPM locators seeking opportunities in Metro Manila’s competitive outsourcing sector.
PEZA currently oversees 427 economic zones nationwide, including 304 IT parks and centers that host over 4,300 locators. These zones are instrumental in driving employment and economic activity across the Philippines, with the IT-BPM industry contributing significantly to the country’s GDP.
Ecozone proclamations under Marcos administration
One Townsquare Place is among the 28 economic zones proclaimed during President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s administration, 11 of which were declared in 2023. PEZA Director General Tereso Panga expressed optimism about increasing new ecozone proclamations to 30 by 2025, with growth areas identified in Calabarzon, Region III, Cebu, and Mindanao.
The IT-BPM sector remains one of the Philippines’ most resilient industries, with revenues projected to grow at an annual rate of 10-15% through 2028. The sector is expected to generate $59 billion in annual revenues and create over a million new jobs by that year, according to the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP).
Las Piñas: A rising IT-BPM hub
The designation of One Townsquare Place as an IT Center underscores PEZA’s commitment to fostering investment opportunities and creating jobs for Filipinos. As Las Piñas City welcomes this major investment, it strengthens its position as a key player in Metro Manila’s growing IT-BPM industry while contributing to national economic development goals.
