PLDT, IBPAP partner to boost Philippines digital economy, AI adoption

MAKATI and TAGUIG, PHILIPPINES — PLDT Enterprise has strengthened its collaboration with the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) to accelerate the country’s digital transformation and expand the IT-BPM sector, according to a report from Back End News.
Expanding digital infrastructure across the Philippines
This geographic expansion will be made possible by PLDT‘s infrastructure, including subsea cables, cloud platforms, and cybersecurity solutions, which will help provide dependable hybrid work models and meet global operational standards.
IBPAP President Jack Madrid highlighted that using AI and digital tools for important services like managing medical information and providing support in multiple languages is essential for staying ahead in the industry, especially through affordable initiatives.
This is in addition to the CREATE MORE Act, which aims to make the sector more competitive.
According to Albert Villa-Real of PLDT, the partnership will open up new avenues, and it will pursue inclusive workforce development, especially in underserved areas.
“Together, we aim to unlock new opportunities, build resilient ecosystems, and empower more Filipinos through technology,” Villa-Real said.
AI and upskilling to future-proof IT-BPM sector
The new collaboration will focus on the adoption of AI and the digital upskilling of professionals to improve the Philippines as an IT-BPM destination in the global market.
Roadmap 2028 of IBPAP singles out AI-powered service delivery as one of their growth drivers, and PLDT can give them the technology foundation, including the data center and connectivity that would support the seamless rollout.
Workforce development remains central, with PLDT and IBPAP advocating for hybrid work policies and reskilling programs.
The focus on responsible hybrid work ensures employees can transition into high-value roles even as automation transforms traditional processes. Villa-Real added that these efforts will build resilient ecosystems capable of competing in an AI-augmented future.
“PLDT Enterprise is committed to enabling national industries through reliable and intelligent digital solutions,” Villa-real emphasized.
