Proposed policy prioritizes fully-vaxxed job applicants in PH
A proposed new policy will allow employers the authority to hire applicants based on their vaccination status, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
The labor agency said that they have submitted a policy that addresses this issue for approval to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF).
This suggested resolution is expected to increase the number of employees who are fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus.
In an interview with Business Mirror, DOLE Assistant Secretary Dominique R.Tutay said that they will issue guidance for the implementation of the policy once it is finalized.
Tutay emphasized that they used the term “may” in the resolution, which means that it will not be mandatory.
This move comes after President Rodrigo Duterte said that it is legal for companies not to hire unvaccinated workers. However, he clarified that establishments are not allowed to fire employees who refuse to get inoculated.
