PwC’s new center to boost job creation in the Philippines

WASHINGTON, D.C., UNITED STATES — Multinational professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) is set to establish a new Global Acceleration Center in the Philippines, which will generate at least 5,000 new jobs for Filipinos.
During the US-Japan-Philippines trilateral meeting in Washington, D.C., the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Alfredo Pascual expressed his gratitude for PwC’s continued confidence in the Philippines as a strategic BPO partner.
The PwC Global Acceleration Center will focus on high-value BPO services, including consulting in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and cybersecurity. The project is ambitious, aiming to create 54,000 new jobs within the next three to four years.
Isla Lipana & Co., the Philippine member firm of the PwC network, is also anticipating the need for an additional 1,000 to 2,000 workers to support the project. This expansion is projected to bring in an estimated PHP2 billion ($35 million) in additional annual revenue for the Philippines.
Secretary Pascual highlighted the critical role of the Information Technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) sector in the country’s economy, aligning with the DTI’s Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) industrial strategy.
“We are deeply grateful for PwC’s decision to launch this new project in the Philippines and their continuing confidence in our country as a global BPO partner,” he stated.
The DTI advocates for the development of AI capabilities to meet businesses’ evolving needs and has extended an invitation to PwC to collaborate on the National Innovation Hub.
Pascual also encouraged PwC to support the government’s workforce development programs, which aim to enhance the skills of the Filipino workforce further.
