QC BPO employees will receive COVID-19 vaccines

At least 5,500 business process outsourcing (BPO) employees in Quezon City (QC) will receive their first dose of COVID-19 vaccines, according to an announcement by the local government yesterday.
QC Mayor Joy Belmonte said in a statement, “We have signed an agreement with the companies to facilitate the vaccination of their employees. We are happy to start the inoculation given the fresh supply of vaccines we received from the national government.”
Last May, the city government signed contracts with the Contact Center Association of the Philippines, Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines, and the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines about the vaccination drive.
Per the agreement, the companies will issue their own medical teams to inoculate their workforce while the local government will supply the vaccines.
Business Permits and Licensing Department head Margie Santos said that they recognize the contribution of the BPO sector in boosting the economy. “They are among the essential frontliners in the city. There’s no reason to delay this service to them,” she added.
Santos further disclosed that the vaccinations, which started last July 21 at the SM City North EDSA Skydome, will continue until August 3, Tuesday.
