QC hailed as 2021’s most competitive city

Quezon City earned the top place as the most competitive city in the Philippines in the 2021 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI).
The index “builds, maps out, and tracks” the competitiveness of local cities and municipalities.
Quezon City was in the top three among the four pillars of the CMCI. This includes economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, and resiliency.
Following Quezon City in the index is Manila, which slipped from last year’s top place. Meanwhile, Pasay City maintained its third-ranking for two consecutive years.
During the 9th Regional Competitiveness Summit, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez said that the CMCI is useful in “providing data for investors and local chief executives” and drawing insights and strategic plans for investments.
A total of 109 local government units (LGUs) participated in this year’s index compared to last year’s 36.
