U.S. recruiters struggle with remote hiring, onboarding – survey

MASSACHUSETTS, UNITED STATES — A recent survey of over 1,000 human resources (HR) professionals in the United States found that many organizations still conduct HR functions remotely, leading to challenges in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding.
The survey, conducted by online education company MindEdge Learning and HR Certification Institute (HRCI), revealed that 40% of organizations perform HR activities remotely all or most of the time, down from 52% last year.
Over half of respondents stated recruiting is now harder than before the COVID-19 pandemic, with only 8% saying it has become easier.
In addition, 35% and 30% said remote onboarding and interviews are more difficult than in-person, respectively.
The survey also found issues with employee retention and burnout, with 40% noting increased turnover rates than before the pandemic, and 68% observing a rise in employee burnout.
“It’s clear that most people want to get back to normal, but it’s hard for many of them to define what normal really means,” said Brad Neuenhaus, chief business officer for MindEdge Learning.
“The new American workplace is still a work in progress, so stay tuned.”
