Remote work in Latin America grew tenfold, says ILO

Remote work in Latin America increased tenfold due to COVID-19 restrictions, according to a recent study by the International Labor Organization (ILO).
ILO stated that the rate of the population working from home grew 20% to 30% when the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a pandemic last March 2020.
Vinicius Pinheiro, ILO Director for Latin America, commented that the remote work dynamic should continue post-pandemic. But he also warned that not everyone is benefitting from the rise in remote work.
According to ILO, over 26 million jobs from the informal sector have been lost since the COVID-19 crisis started.
