Remote work is the “better normal” — Robredo

Vice President Leni Robredo said that the government should offer incentives that would encourage the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry to keep its work-from-home model.
During a virtual roundtable with IT and BPO leaders, Robredo explained that remote work is a “safer” and “more preferable” solution that should be embraced as part of the “better normal.”
Aside from working-from-home, the VP added that the country should expand its IT hubs to provinces and next-level cities and provide “faster and more reliable electricity and internet services” to accommodate flexible working.
The presidential aspirant promised that should she win this upcoming election, she would make digital infrastructure the “cornerstone of the next administration.”
Robredo is also urging the government to step up to the task of ensuring the welfare and upskilling or reskilling the country’s IT-BPM employees “so that their talents and their dedication is harnessed to the fullest.”
