Romania’s business services employees up 30%

The number of employees in Romania’s business services industry increased by nearly 30% over the last three years, according to the Association of Business Service Leaders (ABSL).
In its yearly report, ABSL said that more than half of the companies in the country are expecting their workforce to grow between 10 and 30% by year-end.
The survey, done by ABSL and professional services firm PwC, revealed that the sectors that saw the highest increases in employees are IT, customer support, finances, and accounting.
ABSL President Ciprian Dan explained, “The degree of process complexity, at least for the top three services, is increasing by the year as basic activities get automated.”
“This is why employees with high technical skills are needed, compared to the share of entry-level employees, which was quite high three-five years ago. Other important aspects are the digital skills and the foreign languages,” Dan added.
Meanwhile, the report also stated that the COVID-19 pandemic helped increased employee loyalty, with the average departure rate down this year to 18% from 2019’s 26%.
In terms of salary increases, the insurance, retail, and outsourcing industries are the top three, with 17.7%, 16.8%, and 11%, respectively.
