SAP to acquire SmartRecruiters to boost tech talent

WALLDORF, GERMANY and CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES — SAP SE, the German-based leader in enterprise software, announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire SmartRecruiters, an AI-driven talent acquisition platform.
The deal is set to enhance SAP’s SuccessFactors human capital management (HCM) suite with more robust recruiting, automation, and candidate experience tools.
“Hiring the right people is not just an HR priority – it’s a business priority,” said Muhammad Alam, member of SAP’s Executive Board.
“With this planned acquisition, we will help our customers attract and hire the best talent so they can advance their talent acquisition agendas with speed and agility, while lowering their total cost of ownership.”
SmartRecruiters: Global impact and industry leadership
SmartRecruiters delivers Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions that automate the hiring process for more than 4,000 organizations worldwide, including major companies like Amazon, Visa, and McDonald’s.
With customers operating in over 120 countries, SmartRecruiters specializes in high-volume recruiting, recruitment automation, and AI-enabled candidate engagement. Its user-friendly platform streamlines everything from sourcing to onboarding, helping recruiters, hiring managers, and candidates collaborate efficiently.
Founded in 2010 and led by CEO Rebecca Carr, SmartRecruiters has made “making hiring easy” central to its mission.

SAP’s expanding global HR ecosystem
SAP, headquartered in Walldorf, Germany, operates in more than 180 countries and provides business-critical cloud and software solutions, including finance, procurement, human resources, supply chain, and customer experience.
SAP generated €32.6 billion ($37.7 billion) in revenue in 2024 and employs more than 110,000 people worldwide.
By integrating SmartRecruiters’ AI-powered platform, SAP aims to deliver enhanced recruiting and analytics capabilities for its clients, offering improved applicant tracking, smarter hiring decisions, and reduced time-to-hire.
Data from SmartRecruiters will integrate directly into SAP’s HCM tools, supporting more compliant and streamlined HR operations. For now, SmartRecruiters will also remain available as a standalone product.
J.P. Morgan acted as the exclusive financial advisor to SmartRecruiters for the transaction. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, but it is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025 pending regulatory approvals.
