Sen. Lacson pushes for WFH extension
Presidential candidate Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson is backing the calls of the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry to extend the work-from-home arrangement to September 1 this year.
He said that while the government needs to reopen the economy, it must take into account the plight of ordinary workers coping with higher cost of living because of the high fuel prices.
During the Commission on Elections’ (COMELEC) presidential debate, Lacon pointed out that the Philippines already have the Telecommuting Act, allowing the continued use f alternative workplaces in the country.
The Senator also voiced his support for a supposed four-day workweek as a temporary arrangement given that the costs of fuel and transportation is continuously rising.
Lacosn’s statement comes after the Fiscal Incentives Review Board (FIRB) decided to uphold Resolution 19-21which allows WFH arrangements to companies located in economic zones to continue only until the end of March.
