Singapore’s August job postings jump 55.7%

Singapore’s hiring activity reached a new record-high of 55.7% in August as the economy slowly opened, according to research conducted by employment website Indeed.
Job postings in production grew by 125%, transportation by 109%, and installation by 89% compared to pre-pandemic figures last February 2020.
Indeed APAC Economist Callam Pickering said that the increased hiring activity in the country is a “great sign for future employment growth” as it reflects optimism and confidence in business prospects and Singapore’s economic recovery.
The report further stated that the COVID-19 pandemic and the uneven hiring recovery have caused a shift in Singapore’s job postings — creating more jobs in scientific research and software development than before the pandemic.
In contrast, hiring in social science, law, community, and customer service have experienced the slowest recovery, with jobs in food & beverage and education lagging behind the national recovery.
