Talent expands New Zealand presence with People&Co acquisition
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA — Global recruitment firm Talent has acquired Wellington-based recruitment agency People&Co, expanding its presence in the New Zealand market.
The acquisition comes after Talent surpassed $100 million in gross margin and increased EBITDA by 10% to $27.5 million in the 2022 financial year.
It aligns with Talent’s growth strategy to expand its core recruitment business and provide a platform to build out its project delivery, automation and data consultancy arm, Avec.
Talent’s Global CEO Mark Nielsen cited strong cultural alignment between the two firms: “In addition to significant growth potential, we recognised a strong affinity in terms of culture and vision between the two organisations, and our shared commitment to the New Zealand market.”
Sam Collins, Managing Director of People&Co, will join Talent and lead Avec’s New Zealand operations.
Collins said, “Our culture that we have built is aligned with Talent’s, which was a non-negotiable, and we resonated with the growth mindset of the leaders and their teams.”
People&Co is a majority Māori-owned firm and member of the All-of-Government (AoG) recruitment panels. Through its co.star brand, it provides consulting on organizational development, HR and business strategy.
The Wellington-based company is Talent’s second acquisition, following its purchase of ManpowerGroup’s New Zealand IT business, Experis, in 2019.
Talent has grown since its founding in 1995. The company’s services include recruitment, executive search, IT Consulting, and outsourcing.
