TaskUs CFO Balaji Sekar to step down, taps officers for transition

TEXAS, UNITED STATES — TaskUs announced that Chief Financial Officer Balaji Sekar will depart on March 31, 2026, to pursue an opportunity at a private company, triggering a leadership transition at the provider of outsourced digital services.
To ensure continuity, the company has promoted Senior Vice President Trent Thrash to Interim CFO and Vice President Garrett Gold to Principal Accounting Officer, effective immediately following Sekar’s departure.
Balaji Sekar departs as TaskUs CFO
The exit of Balaji Sekar marks the conclusion of nearly a decade of leadership tenure during which he served as a key driver in scaling the company’s financial infrastructure.
Bryce Maddock, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of TaskUs, notes, “He was instrumental in building our finance and accounting teams to be public company ready as we scaled and then completed a successful [initial public offering] IPO. We wish him well as he takes this next step in his career.”
The company clearly indicated that there was no conflict between Sekar and the company or the Board of Directors regarding his decision.
Moreover, Sekar will work with the organization until the end of the first quarter of 2026 and serve as an advisor for another 6 months to facilitate a smooth transition.
Sekar notes, “I am confident in management’s ability to continue transforming the business for the AI era, and I look forward to seeing all that TaskUs can accomplish in the years ahead.”
Trent Thrash appointed TaskUs Interim CFO
To address the impending vacancy, TaskUs is leveraging its extensive executive base to ensure financial stability and has deployed two experienced veterans to interim leadership positions.
Thrash, who will take up the Interim CFO position, has over 25 years of experience in corporate development, accounting, and finance, with a focus on the business process outsourcing (BPO) and software sectors.
He has a solid technical foundation in financial rigor, stemming from his background as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and his initial job as an auditor at PwC.
Gold will also work with him as a Principal Accounting Officer with over 12 years of experience in accounting and SEC reporting. Gold has CPA and Certified Management Accountant (CMA) qualifications.
Maddock said “We are fortunate to have a deep executive bench at TaskUs. Trent and Garrett are trusted leaders at the Company, and their knowledge of our business and decades of combined experience will help us continue to execute on our financial goals as we search for our next CFO.”
The company ranked #19 in the OA500 2025, an objective index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing companies. The 2026 edition of the OA500 is expected to be released in March. (Read the OA500 2026 methodology paper here.)
