MUMBAI, INDIA — Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has upskilled over 185,000 Indian youth since 2010 through its Youth Employment Program (YEP), with 43,800 securing formal jobs.

The IT giant’s initiatives, including digital entrepreneurship for rural women and AI-ready school curricula, are bridging India’s skills gap while advancing inclusive economic growth.

Youth skilling drives India’s digital transformation

As India moves rapidly towards digital transformation, TCS addresses the imperative of a future-ready workforce through large-scale youth empowerment programs.

Beyond employability, TCS is embedding 21st-century competencies early through school initiatives. It has trained 5,800 teachers in STEM in fiscal year 2025 so that over 266,900 students will be ready to work with AI.

Similarly, go Innovate Together (goIT) inspired 81,374 students across 50 countries to solve real-world problems using AI and the Internet of Things (IoT)—proof of TCS’s global influence in nurturing next-gen innovators.

Bridging India’s rural digital divide through entrepreneurship

TCS is also narrowing India’s digital divide by fostering grassroots entrepreneurship. Its BridgeIT program has created over 1,700 digital entrepreneurs, also known as “digipreneurs,” predominantly women, who provide essential digital services to 744,000 villagers annually.

All these entrepreneurs have businesses across 4,457 villages, providing financial access, healthcare access, and government services to underserved areas, taking care of their livelihood, and making an impact on society.

The initiative aligns with the concept of inclusive growth in India, as the demand for skilled labor has grown surprisingly. Training youth in both technical and entrepreneurial skills, TCS is not only working to fill the existing gaps but also creating the talent pipeline that is resilient to current and future needs.

As Joseph Sunil Nallapalli, TCS Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Head, notes, the goal is to shape changemakers who drive both personal and community advancement—a vision critical to sustaining India’s economic momentum.

“Today’s dynamic work environment demands youth who are ready to contribute from day one. At TCS, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to step into the future with confidence,” he said.

“Together, we are not just building careers—we are shaping changemakers.”

Social impact and industry recognition with OIR 2025

TCS’s youth skilling initiatives position it as a model for Outsource Accelerator‘s Outsourcing Impact Review (OIR) 2025, demonstrating how strategic workforce development can create both business value and social impact.

Its programs upskill thousands of youth and create rural digital entrepreneurs, exemplifying the “Outsourcing for Good” movement that OIR 2025 seeks to highlight, offering a replicable blueprint for combining talent pipeline development with inclusive economic growth in emerging markets.

OIR 2025 nominations are still ongoing for global outsourcing initiatives that deliver tangible social impact, inviting companies to benchmark their programs against industry leaders like TCS.
