Tech, AI to boost Philippine BPO’s prospects

DAVAO CITY, PHILIPPINES — Increased technology and artificial intelligence (AI) adoption could play a pivotal role in the Philippine Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry, according to SixEleven Global Services and Solutions President and CEO George Michael Hao Bian.
In an interview, Bian pointed out that AI’s integration, particularly through platforms like ChatGPT, offers an avenue for more job opportunities in the industry.
“AI with ChatGPT is really popular. A lot of people are concerned about how AI will affect the industry. But the main thing that I’ve seen recently is that a lot of new things are coming, like new job opportunities,” he added.
Established in 2006 as a modest 16-seater call center in Davao City, SixEleven has grown exponentially, now boasting a workforce of over 2,500.
Aside from offering various outsourcing services, Bian shared that the firm is venturing into research, development, and image annotation to bolster AI machine learning.
While there are some challenges to implementing AI in the BPO industry, Bian predicts that it will become an important tool for the company to improve operations and offer more value to its clients.
“Yes, AI will come, it will happen. Things will change but there will always be opportunities,” he stated.
Currently catering to 90 clients across ten countries, SixEleven is looking to double its 5,000 agent count by 2025 with its upcoming expansion in Cagayan de Oro City.
SixEleven is currently subscribed to the Outsource Accelerator (OA) Source Partner Program, a powerful tool that helps BPO firms with marketing, sales, and business intelligence.
