Tech giants offer high salaries to attract AI talent

CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES — Tech firms like Meta, Netflix, Hinge, and Amazon offer salaries as high as $900,000 to attract top talent in the generative artificial intelligence (AI) field.
The demand for generative AI experts skyrocketed as companies capitalized on this technology’s growing excitement. However, the shortage of skilled professionals has led to intense competition and increasingly competitive salary packages.
Netflix recently made headlines by offering up to $900,000 for an AI-focused product manager role. Hinge is seeking a Vice President of Artificial Intelligence with a potential salary of $398,000. Amazon is searching for a senior manager in applied science and generative AI, offering a salary as high as $340,300.
Similarly, Meta posted a job listing for a generative AI research engineer with an annual salary as high as $137,000. Chip giant Nvidia also posted an entry-level job opening for a generative AI research scientist with a salary offer falling between $156,000 and $247,250.
The demand for AI expertise extends beyond the realm of tech companies. Capital One is looking for a distinguished engineer specializing in generative AI with a salary potential of up to $325,700.
Walmart is also seeking a senior manager for its conversational AI platform, with potential annual earnings ranging from $168,000 to $252,000.
“As this tech is still so new, there is a race to bring on employees with this skill in order for the company to stay cutting edge,” said Stacie Haller, the chief career advisor at job site Resume Builder.
Paul Groce, a partner at executive recruitment firm Leathwaite, added that this recruitment competition is “pure market economics.”
“We do not magically have thousands of additional AI developers, product managers and everything else,” he added.
