Tech Mahindra partners with TM Forum to upskill telecom workforce

PUNE, INDIA — Business process outsourcing (BPO) firm Tech Mahindra and global telco and tech consortium TM Forum have announced a strategic partnership to upskill the next generation of telecom professionals.
This collaboration promises to drive innovation and operational excellence for communication service providers (CSPs) worldwide.

Bridging the skills gap in telecom’s digital transformation
As CSPs develop new operating models, there is an urgent requirement to align workforce skills with technological advancements. This initiative aims to enable simplification, modernization, and monetization at scale and speed.

Creating a powerhouse talent pool
A key outcome of this partnership will be the creation of the largest TM Forum-certified talent pool within the CSP IT Service Provider ecosystem.
Tech Mahindra’s innovation labs will play a crucial role in enabling the adoption of industry standards in real-life scenarios, fostering an ecosystem of innovation tailored to address specific challenges faced by CSPs.
George Glass, CTO of TM Forum, highlighted the importance of this initiative: “To reignite growth, investment by CSPs must go beyond technology and focus on building a workforce trained on industry best practice and standards, and equipped with the skills needed to reimagine the role of telco in the digital era.”

Leveraging industry standards for telecom innovation
This partnership underscores the critical importance of expertise in industry standards such as business process frameworks, open digital architectures, and open application programming interface (API).
It aims to leverage technological and human ingenuity as CSPs transition to platform strategies, adopting composable architectures, data and AI, automation, and cloud-native technologies.
