A software engineering and leadership training institute called Edo Tech Park has been commissioned by State Governor Godwin Obaseki in Edo, Nigeria.
This park is expected to generate at least 15,000 world-class software engineers in the state within the next five years.
During the campus take-off of the tech hub, Obaseki said that his government aims to develop the state into a technology outsourcing nerve center in Africa.
The governor also thanked the World Bank for supporting his efforts at empowering the young population of Edo and “preparing them for the future.”
Obaseki added that “technical support is more valuable than cash” as it helps the state “access a new path, a new direction for our young people in this country.”
In his part, World Bank Development Policy and Partnership Managing Director Dr. Mari Elka Pangestu expressed his satisfaction with the latest initiatives of the state that will help provide job opportunities for the young locals of the state.
