Tech partnership to boost women’s AI skills in PH

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Aboitiz Foundation, Connected Women, and the Philippine Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) have partnered to bolster women’s skills in artificial intelligence (AI) and data annotation.
The agreement supports the Elevate AIDA program, designed to upskill women and create more lucrative job opportunities in the digital sector.
“Our primary goal has been to uplift and upskill Filipino women, particularly in these high-demand tech fields. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to this cause,” said Aboitiz Group President and CEO Sabin Aboitiz.
Meanwhile, DILG Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. championed the initiative and urged local governments to back it, affirming its potential to foster inclusive growth. He explained that the program does not only empower women but the entire Philippines.
The DILG’s participation is expected to extend the program’s influence and support local Gender and Development programs.
The Elevate AIDA program prepares women to work in AI and data annotation. Upon completion, graduates join Connected Women’s workforce, stimulating local economic growth.
The goal for the next three years is to upskill 300,000 women, particularly those underskilled or disadvantaged, to help them tap into better opportunities in the expanding digital economy.
Together, we will drive economic and social empowerment, making a life-changing impact on the women, their families, and communities,” added Connected Women Co-Founder Ruth Yu- Owen.
