Global telecom outsourcing market to hit $130Bn by 2033: MRI

WASHINGTON, UNITED STATES — The global telecom outsourcing market is set to grow to $130 billion by 2033, rising from $85 billion in 2024, according to a new report from Market Research Inc. (MRI).
The study links this steady growth to telecom operators increasingly turning to outsourcing partners to cut costs, streamline operations, and tap into new technologies, especially as 5G rollout and digital transformation continue to accelerate worldwide.
Outsourcing at the core of telecom efficiency
According to MRI, outsourcing has become a critical part of how telecom firms operate today. By offloading support services such as network management, customer care, and IT operations to specialized providers, telecom companies can focus more on their core business and innovation.
“Telecom firms can leverage specialized skills for non-essential functions like network administration, customer service, and IT support, while concentrating on core activities through outsourcing,” the report said.
The transition is not solely motivated by the reduction of costs but also by the need for agility. With the continuous development of 5G networks and the fast-paced evolution of digital tools, outsourcing will help telecommunication operators to stay at the forefront of flexibility, improve service quality, and quickly integrate new technologies.
One of the most remarkable spots in outsourcing is network management, packing, support, IT, and billing operations. The report points out that there is a rising demand for managed services and cloud-based outsourcing, which provide expandable and cost-efficient solutions for international telecom companies.
Balancing innovation, security, and control
Nonetheless, MRI acknowledges that the outsourcing boom comes with its own set of difficulties. The processing of sensitive telecom data by third-party providers raises issues related to data security, privacy, and regulatory compliance. Furthermore, maintaining uniform service quality among various vendors is still considered a major problem for telecom management.
Yet, the study indicates that the market will continue to be pushed forward by innovation despite the aforementioned challenges. The outsourced operations are gradually taking in automation and artificial intelligence, in turn are helping the providers to enhance their performance and save on expenses.
“In order to increase productivity, lower operating costs, and improve service delivery, outsourcing services are increasingly utilizing automation and artificial intelligence,” MRI added.
The next phase of telecom outsourcing will be significantly influenced by major global companies, including Ericsson, Nokia, Huawei, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, and IBM.
Telecom companies, however, will resort to outsourcing as a key strategy to remain competitive in the upcoming decade, amidst heavy pressure to innovate and handle complex global operations.
