Two tech firms partner to assist Philippine BPOs on sustainability

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — In a notable shift for the Philippine business process outsourcing (BPO) landscape, technology providers Testech and Asuene APAC have established a partnership focused on assisting BPO companies with sustainability through carbon emissions reporting and energy conservation initiatives.

Meeting growing compliance challenges

The collaboration emerges as BPO organizations increasingly face regulatory pressures regarding environmental standards. The Philippine Development Plan spanning 2023 to 2028 requires businesses to present greenhouse gas reduction objectives to the Securities and Exchange Commission, supporting the nation’s pledge to cut emissions by three-quarters within this decade. This represents Manila’s dedication to the United Nations initiative that seeks to constrain worldwide temperature increases to one and a half degrees above pre-industrial levels.

By combining Testech’s technological capabilities with Asuene’s energy conservation knowledge, the partnership aims to deliver comprehensive solutions tailored to outsourcing operations.

“There is a circumstance in which [BPOs] must answer the demand for sustainability in order to improve their global credibility and ensure their competitiveness in the European and [U.S.] markets,” TesTech and Asuene APAC said in a statement.

The timing proves significant as global corporations increasingly expect their outsourcing partners to demonstrate environmental responsibility.

Under this joint effort, Asuene will provide specialized tools to help BPO firms track emissions and maintain compliance with sustainability requirements that match their operational realities.

Meanwhile, Testech will provide firms with technology for environmental solutions and technical advice for energy consumption.

Established leaders in tech and sustainability

Testech Group (Testech Inc.), founded in 1996, has grown to become the leading industrial outsource process service provider in the Philippines, with four subsidiaries offering specialized services across various industries. Testech provides integrated facilities management, semiconductor manufacturing process support, and technology solutions, including energy efficiency programs for ESG compliance and cost savings.

Asuene, established in 2019 as a climate-tech startup, provides a comprehensive suite of services, including Asuene, a cloud-based climate platform for measuring, reporting, and reducing carbon emissions; Asuene ESG, a cloud service for ESG evaluation of supply chain procurement; and Carbon EX, a carbon credit exchange market for Net Zero initiatives. Asuene has established a strong market position, holding the number one market share in Japan with over 9,000 customers for its carbon accounting platform6.

Strengthening the Philippines’ green technology sector

This alliance marks meaningful progress in developing local green technology solutions within the Philippines. By targeting the BPO industry — a crucial economic driver for the country — the initiative could substantially impact the nation’s overall environmental footprint.

As worldwide corporate environmental standards continue evolving, this development positions Philippine BPO firms to maintain competitive advantages while supporting broader climate objectives. Industry experts anticipate the partnership will expand its service offerings to address specific sustainability challenges across various BPO market segments.
