Thrive boosts managed IT services with Baroan Technologies acquisition

MASSACHUSETTS, UNITED STATES — Boston-based Thrive, a global technology outsourcing provider specializing in cybersecurity, cloud, and IT managed services, announced the acquisition of Baroan Technologies, a New Jersey–based managed IT support firm serving manufacturing, healthcare, marketing, and other sectors.
The deal marks Thrive’s third acquisition this year and adds a strategic hub in North Jersey and the broader Tri-State Area.
Customer-centric approach fuels partnership
“Baroan Technologies shares our customer-centric approach and has a strong reputation for working closely with its customers to ensure they are strategically implementing technology to support business operations,” said Bill McLaughlin, CEO of Thrive.
“By tapping into their deep industry knowledge, Thrive will continue to deliver best-in-class technology solutions to all of our customers and propel our growth and success even further.”
Thrive’s growth trajectory
Over the past two years, Thrive has completed 13 acquisitions, expanding its global headcount to over 1,500 employees.
With a mission to “empower their customers to harness the promise of technology,” the company offers advisory services, vCISO/vCIO engagements, solution architecture, and a subscription-based technology platform via its NextGen platform.
Baroan Technologies: Regional IT specialist
Founded in 1997, Baroan Technologies has delivered high-touch IT services and cybersecurity to businesses across New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut for nearly 30 years.
The privately held firm combines proactive monitoring, managed cloud services, compliance support, and digital transformation consulting through a team of seasoned IT professionals.
Strategic implications for the outsourcing industry
This transaction highlights the increasing M&A activity in the mid-market managed services sector, as larger providers seek to enhance regional capabilities and service depth.
For Thrive, the acquisition of Baroan — alongside its recent purchase of Abacode, Secured Network Services (SNS), and the launch of a new Compliance Center — signals a concerted push into compliance and managed IT, positioning the company for “massive growth in H2” of 2025.
