TP expands Ghana operations, creating 5,000 jobs

ACCRA, GHANA — TP (formerly known as Teleperformance), a global leader in digital business services and business process outsourcing (BPO), has announced the launch of its third operational site in Accra, Ghana, as part of a major expansion aimed at employing over 5,000 young Ghanaians.
This latest move marks a key milestone in TP’s growing footprint in West Africa and follows its entry into Ghana in January 2022 with just 36 employees.
“Together with our leadership, we are truly proud to see that what began as a small initiative in Ghana is now embraced with tremendous support and goodwill,” said Elhadi Bencherif, Country Lead of TP Ghana.
TP eyes Ghana as regional BPO hub
TP’s Deputy CEO Thomas Mackenbrock reaffirmed the company’s commitment to job creation, describing Ghana as a strategic location for digital services in West Africa.
TP currently employs more than 1,300 people in Ghana, with plans to reach 10,000 jobs as part of its participation in the Ghana Free Zones programme. The initiative allows eligible companies to benefit from tax incentives and access to global markets.
With a global workforce of nearly 500,000 across 95 countries, Teleperformance delivers services such as customer relationship management, high-value customer experience, content moderation, and digital operations. The company serves clients across industries including tech, finance, healthcare, and e-commerce.
Teleperformance recently overtook Accenture and soared to rank #1 in the OA500 2025, an objective index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing companies.
Government backs expansion, sees economic boost
The expansion was launched in collaboration with the Government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation, and is aligned with the administration’s 24-hour economy initiative designed to create sustainable employment.
The CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Simon Madjie, speaking on behalf of the Minister for Communication, praised the initiative’s potential to curb unemployment and enhance Ghana’s BPO competitiveness. He expressed optimism that the 5,000 jobs initially announced could increase over time.
“We are also immensely grateful to the government for providing us with a conducive business environment that supports our vision to create meaningful jobs for the youth in the digital space,” Bencherif added.
