Transcosmos expands China footprint, acquires Kubota IT

TOKYO, JAPAN — Business process outsourcing (BPO) provider transcosmos has acquired Kubota Systems & Information, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kubota Corporation specializing in information systems.
The acquisition, effective June 11, 2024, aims to expand transcosmos’ system development business targeting the Japanese and Chinese markets.
By taking over Kubota Group’s IT business in China, transcosmos will inherit Kubota Systems’ SAP maintenance operations, venturing into a new domain.
Enhancing operational efficiencies with skilled workforce
“The agreed acquisition of Kubota Systems was a perfect opportunity for both KUBOTA Corporation and transcosmos to achieve our respective vision,” said Kokkei Nakayama, Chairman of Suzhou transcosmos Information Creative Co., Ltd.
“For KUBOTA Corporation, the deal will bring higher operational efficiency through promoting structural reform, and transcosmos can expand its systems business in China.”
“Building on this acquisition, we will further expand the coverage of our cost-effective system service to include Kubota Group. At the same time, we will provide all Japanese businesses operating in China with greater services to help them grow their businesses,” Nakayama added.
Transcosmos established its first system development subsidiary in Tianjin, China, in 1995. It managed projects from design to testing for local markets in Japan and China.
Since then, the company has expanded its footprint to Suzhou and Jinan in China and Japan. Its workforce of 1,600 engineers and specialized quality control team deliver high-quality services meeting Japanese standards.
