Transcosmos achieves South Korea’s first PCI DSS v4.0 certification

TOKYO, JAPAN — Transcosmos has announced a significant achievement, becoming the first business process outsourcing (BPO) company in South Korea to receive the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) version 4.0 certification.
This milestone underscores transcosmos’ commitment to maintaining the highest standards of information security in the handling of cardholder data.
Understanding PCI DSS v4.0: Enhanced security measures
The PCI DSS is a globally recognized security standard established by major international credit card companies to protect cardholder data and reduce the risk of data breaches.
The latest version, PCI DSS v4.0, includes 512 security testing procedures, an increase from the 412 procedures in the previous version 3.2.1. This new version introduces stricter requirements, including enhanced Multi-Factor Authentication and stronger application account management rules.
Transcosmos has successfully met all the detailed security requirements under the six categories defined by PCI DSS v4.0:
- Build and Maintain a Secure Network and Systems
- Protect Account Data
- Maintain a Vulnerability Management Program
- Implement Strong Access Control Measures
- Regularly Monitor and Test Networks
- Maintain an Information Security Policy
Transcosmos first achieved PCI DSS certification in the South Korean BPO market in 2016. Since then, the company has consistently maintained compliance with global security standards, passing annual assessments that have become increasingly stringent.
The recent certification with PCI DSS v4.0 further solidifies transcosmos’ position as a leader in the global BPO industry.
