Former border patrol chief criticizes U.S. outsourcing security to Mexico
NEW YORK, UNITED STATES — Former United States Border Patrol Chief Rodney Scott argued that the U.S. has “outsourced” its border security instead of securing its own borders through recent agreements with Mexico
In a recent Fox News interview, Scott stressed that the U.S. should take responsibility for protecting its citizens rather than relying on other countries to enforce immigration laws.
And while he acknowledged Mexico’s agreement to accept more migrants was good, he also contended that the U.S. still needs to prioritize national security at the border.
“We need to bring our national security back home to where we control it,” he stated.
The former official added that the Border Patrol has to secure the border as they did traditionally and not just process people into the U.S.
Scott, who served as U.S. Border Patrol Chief from 2019-2021, also criticized the Biden administration’s focus on the migrant crisis over national security at the border.
He said border agents need additional support and resources to address both humanitarian and security crises.
