US, China hyperscalers expected to enter PH

At least two hyperscalers from the United States and China are expected to enter the Philippines this year, according to the Department of Trade and Industry-Board of Investments (DTI-BOI).
During the virtual launch of “Philippines: The Next Strategic Hyperscaler Hub in Asia Pacific”, DTI Undersecretary and BOI managing head Ceferino Rodolfo said that they are currently in advanced discussions with companies from the two foreign countries.
Rodolfo emphasized that the green energy market and data privacy regulatory framework in the country is what attracted hyperscaler firms.
Meanwhile, DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez noted that the Philippines’ digital savviness made the country a prime location for hyperscaler investors.
Lopez added that “The digital readiness of our enterprises is helping propel our economic growth even further.”
Hyperscalers firms offer cloud and internet-based services that need huge amounts of space, power, and connectivity to allow rapid IT scaling for their customer base.
