USTDA to open PH office this Q1

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) will be opening an office in the country this quarter to help meet the demands of the Philippine market.
During an interview with reporters at the Indo-Pacific Business Forum, U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay Carlson said that their Manila office will focus on projects regarding supply chains, clean energy, infrastructure, and telecommunications.
“The office that is being planned here aims to do feasibility studies so that they can find out where there is interest within various sectors for potential trade and investment,” Carlson noted.
Another reason for the opening, added Carlson, is the expected large investment opportunities that would increase trading between the Philippines and the U.S.
The ambassador is optimistic that “people-to-people ties” would accelerate and revitalize investment opportunities between the two countries in 2023 and beyond.
The U.S. is among the top three trading partners of the Philippines, while the Philippines is the U.S.’ 31st largest goods trading partner.
