Uzbekistan eyes $5Bn in IT exports by 2030

TASHKENT, UZBEKISTAN — IT Park Uzbekistan CEO Farkhad Ibragimov recently unveiled a plan to increase Uzbekistan’s IT exports to $5 billion by 2030.
The ambitious target, unveiled at the Uzbekistan Outsourcing Forum, is part of a broader strategy to expand the country’s global footprint in IT and business process outsourcing (BPO) sectors.
Ibragimov highlighted Uzbekistan’s advantages that position it to achieve this target, including its young and growing population, robust infrastructure, and government support programs.
“With a population of 36 million and an average age of 29, Uzbekistan’s young and growing population is ideally positioned to succeed in the IT sphere,” stated Ibragimov.
He added that 99% of the country has internet access and over 25,000 university graduates annually.
The IT Park provides incentives like tax breaks, free office space, and training grants to companies operating in Uzbekistan.
Currently, over 1,400 IT Park resident companies employ approximately 24,000 IT professionals. Ibragimov expects that by 2030, over 300,000 professionals will work for 10,000 IT outsourcing firms in Uzbekistan.
The rapid expansion of the country’s IT sector, aided by government commitment, can help Uzbekistan become a major global IT industry player and achieve the ambitious $5 billion export target. However, scaling up the industry to reach this goal will require substantial continued investment in education and training to expand the talent pool.
