Uzbekistan to hold outsourcing conference in Tokyo, Japan

TASHKENT, UZBEKISTAN — Tokyo will serve as the backdrop for the Uzbekistan Outsourcing Conference on April 25, a significant event that underscores the burgeoning IT collaboration between Uzbekistan and Japan.
This conference aims to set a foundational framework for future cooperation, leveraging Uzbekistan’s growing IT sector against Japan’s established technological prowess.
Strategic IT partnerships
The conference will spotlight the strategic alignment between the two nations, particularly focusing on how Uzbekistan’s youthful demographic and robust educational system in IT and sciences can complement Japan’s tech industry, which is currently experiencing a talent shortage.
Japan’s IT market, expected to expand to $135 billion in 2024, faces challenges such as an aging workforce and a competitive hiring environment.
Uzbekistan, with two-thirds of its population under 30 and a strong legacy in science and technology education, presents a viable solution to Japan’s talent crunch.
The One Million Uzbek Coders initiative and the emphasis on English language proficiency are steps Uzbekistan has taken to prepare its workforce for international markets.
Economic and tax incentives
The conference will also delve into the economic strategies Uzbekistan is employing to attract foreign IT businesses. Notable incentives include significant tax breaks for IT companies and a streamlined process for setting up operations in Uzbekistan through IT Park’s One Stop Shop service.
This includes assistance with company registration, tax registration, and even virtual office services, allowing Japanese companies to operate remotely in Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan’s previous global conferences
Uzbekistan already made significant strides in establishing itself as a competitive IT outsourcing destination through a series of successful conferences in major cities around the world.
The country recently hosted consecutive outsourcing conferences in Berlin and Seoul, enhancing collaboration and unlocking potential business opportunities in the IT sector between European and Asian markets.
In New York, the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted an outsourcing conference that invited U.S. firms to explore the rapidly growing IT and outsourcing sector in Uzbekistan.
Dubai was another strategic location where Uzbekistan showcased its IT capabilities. The conference in Dubai attracted over 100 top experts and business leaders, emphasizing the nation’s human capital and the anticipated opening of new representative offices by foreign companies.
The London conference set the stage for new outsourcing frontiers, with Uzbekistan’s IT sector anticipating a surge in exports and employment. The event aimed to exhibit Uzbekistan’s considerable outsourcing potential and encourage collaboration between Uzbekistan and the UK’s IT industry.
