Webhelp Durban grows almost 7-fold in just a year

Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) provider Webhelp’s office in Durban, South Africa (SA) grew almost sevenfold just one year after its launch in the city.
Webhelp SA Managing Director Tammy Chetty attributed this significant progress to the resilience and sales ability of Durban employees.
“BPO is one of the fastest-growing sectors in South Africa with significant year-on-year growth,” she stated. “We’ve had [a] significant government and stakeholder support leaning into the incredible job opportunities this sector creates for young, unemployed individuals with little or no work experience.”
“The local partnerships with BPESA and TIKZN [Trade and Investment KZN] are also incredibly impactful to our operations,” Chetty added.
Webhelp also stated that Durban is “fast becoming a global hub for business outsourcing” due to its workforce’s quality of work and high English-speaking skills.
Furthermore, Chetty noted that the city — and SA itself — is being set apart in the global BPO space due to the “sheer resilience” that it has demonstrated through the pandemic.
Due to this growth, Webhelp Durban announced that it would soon employ 674 young people at its Umhlanga Ridgeside office to accommodate new and existing clients.
