Webscale acquires Section.io, launches AI-powered platform

CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES — Webscale, a leader in cloud infrastructure software, has acquired Section.io, an innovator in edge computing, to launch CloudFlow, a platform using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to optimize distributed cloud computing and control costs.
The acquisition brings together Webscale’s expertise in cloud management and Section.io’s capabilities in edge computing.
CloudFlow’s patented automation allows businesses to efficiently manage workloads and resources across networks with “zero-ops.”
The AI-powered system handles dynamic resource allocation, automatic scaling, and real-time cost optimization. This reduces infrastructure expenses while maximizing performance.
“[CloudFlow is] a game-changer for businesses seeking control over their margins by keeping inflated cloud infrastructure costs in check without sacrificing performance or security posture,” said Gary Schofield, CEO of Webscale.
Former Section.io CTO Dan Bartholomew has taken on an exciting new role as Chief Product Officer at Webscale, leading the product development team.
Under Webscale’s united banner, the company is poised to redefine the future of digital experiences and set new standards for distributed computing and cloud cost control through the revolutionary CloudFlow platform.
Section.io is Webscale’s first-ever acquisition. Based in Santa Clara, California, Webscale has over 100 employees. The company powers digital experiences for Fortune 1000 businesses including Toyota, Trulieve, and BigCommerce.
Webscale secured $56.3 million in funding across six rounds, with the most recent funding coming from a Series C round in 2021.
