Welspun invests $30Mn in Indian IT services

TELANGANA, INDIA — Global conglomerate Welspun Group plans major new investments in Telangana, India, highlighting the state government’s business-friendly policies.
Welspun Chairman BK Goenka recently met with Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy where he announced the company’s Rs 250 crore (US$30 million) investment in the state to develop an IT/ITeS facility in the Chandanvelly Industrial hub, located in the Ranga Reddy district.
This IT center aims to create 1,000 to 1,200 direct jobs for local youth after necessary training.
The new IT investment adds to over Rs 2,000 crore (US$240 million) Welspun has already pumped into advanced textiles and flooring manufacturing plants in Telangana over the past two years. The company also has an existing team working on potential IT investments in Ahmedabad and Mumbai.
Goenka emphasized Welspun’s commitment to boosting employment opportunities across Telangana. The planned IT facility will help meet the demand for increased tech investment and jobs, especially in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
The meeting also reflects the Telangana government’s proactive efforts to attract private investment under its industrial development policies. Officials assured Welspun of support to aid expansion plans and drive economic growth across key regions in the state.
