Wipro adds Simbian AI agent to managed cybersecurity services
TENNESSEE, UNITED STATES — Wipro, a global IT services firm, is strengthening its cybersecurity portfolio by integrating Simbian’s AI agent into its managed security services, which represents an important milestone in the industry’s shift toward AI-driven defense strategies.
Automating security operations with AI
The partnership will see Wipro offering Simbian’s AI security operations center (SOC) agent as part of its CyberShield suite, while also making a strategic investment in the California-based startup.
The AI agent is designed to automate threat detection and response, enabling faster investigations and reducing costs for organizations that rely on Wipro’s services.
“The average enterprise has 75 security tools,” Simbian Chief Product Officer Sumedh Barde told MSSP Alert. “Most of these tools do well on shining light on problems, but they end up creating busywork for security operations professionals, from deploying, configuring, and stitching together those tools to reviewing findings and filtering out noise from signal.”
Simbian’s SOC agent leverages its proprietary context lake, a system that learns from telemetry, ticket histories, and asset intelligence to sharpen accuracy in real-world scenarios.
For Wipro, this means a chance to deliver faster, more resilient security solutions at scale.
MSSPs fast-track adoption of agentic AI
The move reflects a wider trend across the cybersecurity sector. With attackers increasingly using AI to accelerate and complicate their methods, security vendors and managed security service providers (MSSPs) are under pressure to keep pace.
“It’s still early days for the market, but it is moving faster than previous cycles,” Barde said.
“Security operations (SecOps) teams have no choice other than embracing AI agents, because attackers armed with AI are amping up both the pace and complexity of attacks,” he added.
Furthermore, Nvidia’s Chief Security Officer, David Reber, emphasizes that AI agents can serve as intelligent collaborators to reduce burnout and scale security expertise.
Outsourcing in AI security
Wipro’s integration of Simbian’s SOC agent highlights a broader shift in the outsourcing industry. As companies worldwide outsource more security functions to MSSPs, providers are expected to deliver both efficiency and depth of expertise. AI agents, which scale alongside threat volumes, are emerging as essential tools to meet those expectations.
The outsourcing sector has long been valued for cost savings and flexibility, but with AI now entering the picture, its value proposition is expanding.
