Wipro completes HARMAN business unit buy to scale AI engineering

BENGALURU, INDIA, and CONNECTICUT, UNITED STATES — Wipro has finalized its acquisition of the Digital Transformation Solutions (DTS) business unit from HARMAN.
The deal bolsters Wipro’s AI-powered engineering services and research & development capabilities, integrating DTS into its Engineering Global Business Line.
“We are delighted to welcome the DTS team and their clients to Wipro. The acquisition of DTS strengthens Wipro’s ability to deliver AI-powered, end-to-end engineering services,” said Srikumar Rao, Managing Partner and Global Head of Engineering at Wipro.
Wipro uses AI consulting to power digital transformation
With its consulting-led approach and Wipro Intelligence suite, Wipro leverages AI to drive complex digital transformations for clients globally, supported by a vast innovation network. The firm has over 230,000 employees and partners and scales in delivering intelligent, sustainable business solutions.
It can also be recalled that Wipro recently discussed with Warburg Pincus a potential $500 million acquisition of Harman’s India-based digital transformation solutions business, which has now been completed.
The company ranked #3 in the OA500 2025, an objective index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing companies.
On the other hand, HARMAN Digital Transformation Solutions (DTS) operates as a global engineering partner, building scalable, intelligent systems from cloud automation to AI-led platforms. This AI-first digital engineering approach, applied across life sciences, hi-tech, and industrial sectors, allows the company to drive tangible impact through its blend of deep domain expertise and a human-first mindset.
DTS adds embodied AI and product engineering depth to Wipro
The DTS unit brings specialized expertise in embodied AI, embedded software, device engineering, and customer experience platforms to Wipro’s existing consulting-led, AI-powered service model.
This is a move meant to improve Wipro’s capacity to deliver what it says are differentiated, connected next-generation experiences, thereby strengthening its presence in the global engineering services market.
The strategic rationale centers on combining strengths for greater innovation and scale. The move is framed as evolving Wipro’s “engineering DNA” to meet a rapidly transforming technology landscape, aiming to support more complex transformations across various industry sectors.
Rao notes, “This acquisition enhances our ability to innovate at scale, deliver measurable business value, and support complex transformations across sectors.”
Wipro–DTS integration targets global growth, client value
The operational success of this acquisition hinges on the seamless integration of DTS’s offerings with Wipro’s established platforms. A key technical objective is to integrate HARMAN’s AI solutions with Wipro Intelligence, Wipro’s suite of AI-powered platforms and solutions.
The integration is also aimed at strengthening and integrating service provision to enhance speed in innovation and change for the combined client base of the two entities.
The two leaders focus on the value-creation opportunities and growth of the merged operations. According to Vikas Gupta, the Executive Vice President (EVP) and GM of DTS, the new role with Wipro gives him the base to scale, venture into new segments, and deliver more value to clients. He pointed out the global presence and developed technology ecosystem of Wipro as inducing factors.
The merger is strategically positioned to implement an integrated go-to-market strategy that leverages DTS’s complementary industry solutions and market presence to seize emerging opportunities globally.
“The combined strengths of DTS and Wipro will enable a more integrated go-to-market approach, accelerating innovation and transformation for clients worldwide,” Gupta concluded.
