Wipro to overhaul HanesBrands’ IT operations in AI transformation deal

BENGALURU, INDIA, and NORTH CAROLINA, UNITED STATES — In a move to overhaul its global technology operations, Wipro has entered a multi-year agreement with apparel firm HanesBrands, which will leverage its proprietary AI platforms to transform HanesBrands’ IT infrastructure and cybersecurity.
The engagement, a cornerstone of HanesBrands’ IT 2.0 transformation initiative, aims to streamline operations, enhance security, and improve user experiences while reducing IT costs.
“The engagement with Wipro is a key step in our journey to transform our IT operations and deliver better experiences for our customers and partners,” noted Scott Pleiman, Chief Strategy, Transformation, Analytics, and Technology Officer at HanesBrands.
Wipro’s AI platform to modernize HanesBrands operations
Wipro is a technology services and consulting firm that engages in AI-driven solutions and digital transformation for its clients, utilizing its Wipro Intelligence platform of services, with over 230,000 employees and partners in 65 countries. They leverage extensive consulting skills and the Wipro Innovation Network to create intelligent and sustainable solutions for their technical customers.

WINGS platform drives cost reduction, automation
In its press release, Wipro notes that the partnership marks a significant shift in the industry from traditional IT management to an integrated, AI-driven managed services model.
The core technology enabling this transition is Wipro’s WINGS operations AI platform, designed to manage and optimize IT environments proactively.
“This new engagement will allow us to bring the Wipro Intelligence suite to HanesBrands, increasing their operational agility and resilience through AI-powered platforms, solutions, and transformative offerings,” explained Shiva Jayaraman, Senior Vice President (SVP) and Sector Head – Consumer Business, Americas 1, Wipro Limited.
This AI-first product is expected to yield significant operational and financial benefits. Through these AI-powered platforms and solutions, Wipro is optimistic that it will be able to simplify HanesBrands’ operations, enhance its data regulatory compliance, and improve the overall IT experience for consumers, suppliers, and employees.
A key stated outcome of this transformation is achieving measurable cost reductions across HanesBrands’ IT operations.
Innovation access extends partnership beyond IT services
In addition to the typical vendor-client scenario, this contract establishes a strategic partnership that fosters long-term innovation and growth.
HanesBrands will have access to the Wipro Innovation Network, a fully functional ecosystem comprising innovation labs, AI-native enterprises, Wipro Ventures, academia, and technology partners. The access is designed to help create tailored solutions in cooperation with HanesBrands to address the specific future challenges.
Both companies focus on the collaborative aspect of this venture, as highlighted by the leadership of the two companies. Pleiman attributed the innovation and business success to the AI-based strategy and Wipro’s domain knowledge.
