1,472 BPO jobs offered at Iloilo City jobs fair
A total of 1,472 business process outsourcing (BPO) jobs were on offer to applicants at the recently concluded Iloilo City jobs fair organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). Twelve business process outsourcing companies participated. The job fair featured nearly 17,000 job vacancies in total, and 1,068 applicants came to apply for local and overseas jobs, according to DOLE assistant regional director Salome Siaton. The local government of Iloilo City has been ramping up its efforts to produce graduates fit for outsourcing jobs in the city, which has been identified as one of the emerging IT-BPM destinations. Since last March, investors from Indonesia, Germany and China have visited Iloilo City to explore economic opportunities, according to the city’s mayor, Jose Espinosa III. Almost every week, there are BPO companies that come to the city to inquire about investing and locating in the city, said Espinosa.
