71% of Taiwanese firms oppose remote work
An estimated 71% of companies in Taiwan are against remote working and would like all of their employees to report back to the office, according to a survey by management consulting firm 104 Job Bank.
The online poll conducted recently, showed that only 29% of employers are open to a hybrid work schedule and a measly 0.3% of firms want full-time remote work.
From the employees’ point of view, 65% of office workers preferred hybrid work, 30% said they wanted to work on-site, and only 5% wanted to work exclusively from home.
The report stated that the results reflect different perceptions of remote working affects effectiveness at work.
104 Job Bank Human Resources Head Weber Chung said that businesses are reporting that they are losing a 46% point in efficiency and 41% point in productivity due to working remotely.
On the other hand, employees feel that their efficiency and productivity at home have only decreased by three per cent.
However, Chung stated that both companies and workers agree that working-from-home provides three major advantages — including employee satisfaction, attracting talent, and saving on office space leases.
