76% of APAC CEOs confident of economic growth in 2022
About 76% of Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region are optimistic that the global economy will improve this year following the two-year pandemic.
According to a survey by PwC, the latest figure is three per cent more than the 73% optimism level from last year.
PwC Philippines Chairman and Senior Partner Roderick M. Danao said that half (50%) of CEOs in the region are either “very confident” or “extremely confident” in their revenue growth prospects in 2022.
He added that most respondents are interested in expanding into major economies — such as the United States, China, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
Meanwhile, the PwC survey showed that the top threats considered by APAC business leaders include health risks, cyber risks, and macroeconomic volatility. Most of them are concerned on the near-term effects for their revenues regardless of the threat.
Further, the report disclosed that 60% of APAC CEOs are progressing with their net-zero commitment, while 69% have either made or are heading towards a carbon neutrality commitment.
However, the survey noted that strategy is “still primarily driven by business metrics such as customer/staff satisfaction and automation/digitization goals.”
The PwC survey, which was conducted in October and November last year, interviewed 1,618 CEOs in Asia-Pacific countries.
