MELVILLE, UNITED STATES — CloudFirst, a cloud, cybersecurity and managed services provider backed by Renovus Capital Partners, has completed its acquisition of the IT and cyber managed services practice of accounting and advisory firm Forvis Mazars.
The deal brings an established team of IT and cybersecurity professionals to CloudFirst, strengthens its Microsoft Azure capabilities and introduces Service Desk as a formal offering. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Practice adds security talent and Azure depth
The acquisition significantly expands CloudFirst’s technical capacity across operations and engineering, according to a press release.
The enhanced cybersecurity practice brings expertise across a broader range of security technologies and platforms, which the company said gives it more flexibility to recommend tools based on each client’s environment and risk profile.
Ben Doane joins CloudFirst as senior vice president of cybersecurity, while Rick Burtt joins as senior director of managed services.
“This acquisition accelerates that strategy. We are bringing talented people into the organization and adding capabilities that complement our existing strengths while opening new opportunities for where we can take CloudFirst next,” said Wayne Kiphart, CEO of CloudFirst.
Existing clients keep their teams
Clients of the acquired practice will continue working with the team members and service relationships they know, while gaining access to CloudFirst’s broader cloud, cybersecurity and managed services portfolio.
“Our clients’ environments and security threats never stop evolving, and neither do we,” Doane said.
CloudFirst’s expertise spans IBM and Microsoft Azure cloud services, cybersecurity, infrastructure management, backup and disaster recovery, business continuity and ongoing IT operations.
Renovus, a lower middle market private equity firm based in the Philadelphia area, manages over $2 billion and has more than 30 U.S. businesses in its portfolio.
The deal shows an accounting and advisory firm carving out an IT services practice to a specialist backed by private equity.
For buyers of managed services and cloud-led digital transformation work, it puts security operations, Azure support and a service desk under one provider focused on critical IT environments.
CloudFirst is positioned to pitch clients a broader cloud and security portfolio, a combination buyers comparing the top AI outsourcing companies and managed IT providers will weigh.
