Accenture increases percentage of female managing directors

Professional services firm Accenture announced that it has promoted about 787 people to managing director and senior managing director positions across its global operations, with more than one-third of the promotions being women. The move is in line with its goal to grow the total percentage of its female managing directors to 25% worldwide by 2020, the company said. More than 30% of the promotions were made in areas considered to be growth markets. The latest round of global promotions follows the 762 made last year, while the 36% rate of female managing director promotions has grown from a steady rate of between 28% and 32% in the past few years.
This rate is up from that of 21% in 2014, as the company’s revenue has grown significantly. Commenting on the promotions, Julie Sweet, CEO, said the inspiring leaders create an environment every day where their teams can innovate, push boundaries, and be true partners to their clients. Meanwhile, Ellyn Shook, chief leadership and HR officer, said the new directors are extraordinary leaders as well as extraordinary human beings who set an example for all through their creativity, humility, and compassion.
