Wipro campus hiring more than doubles

Software firm Wipro’s campus hiring in 2019-2020 more than doubled the figure from 2018-2019, said Saurabh Govil, chief human resources officer. The company said it took 1,891 new employees on board in the third quarter and 11,331 in the nine months of the fiscal year 2019-2020, adding that voluntary attrition fell to 15.7%.
It also said that its local employee base in the US reached 70%, with some techies from India deputed to the US for some specialized skills. Wipro won major deals in IT services in the third quarter, including a multi-year managed IT services contract from a Middle East airport; a substantial deal from a European manufacturer of hi-tech components for the automotive industry; and multi-year cyber governance, cloud, and infrastructure services transformation deal from Japanese medical technology firm Olympus.
Two more deals included a multi-year managed services contract from a United Kingdom-based construction firm and an agreement with multinational food and drink processing firm.
